I’m puzzle by why i was able to run your program without error from VM installed Windows 10 64-bit O/S but not from my main system installed 64-bit Windows 10 O/S.
I have try to found what is causing your program displaying errors at my main system but sadly i cannot the list of tests i done to figure out why your program displaying errors at my main system are listed below.
I disabled ESET Smart Security Host Instrusion Prevention System (HIPS), Real-time file system protection and Firewall.
The Windows Defender and Windows Firewall are disabled.
I redownload the program but this time i use Microsoft Edge browser and disabled the Internet Download Manager.
The link below is the screenshot of Gpresult command output it lists the configured local group policies i have on my system.

Set command-line environment variables output: http://pastebin.com/jKP3zURT
Compare folder permissions and owners, i.e. of c:\users\…\downloads.
Also compare the output of reg.exe export “HKLM\Software\Policies” “C:\hklm.reg” and reg.exe export “HKCU\Software\Policies” “C:\hkcu.reg”. The trial BeyindCompare is very handy for such tasks. HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies might also hold some differences.
P.s. comments with multiple links need manual approval before they show up.
I extract the program to root directory of C:\ run it from C:\ directory with same errors. The “icacls C:\” command-line output result is below:
C:\ BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)(F)
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)(F)
BUILTIN\Users:(OI)(CI)(RX)
NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users:(OI)(CI)(IO)(M)
NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users:(AD)
Mandatory Label\High Mandatory Level:(OI)(NP)(IO)(NW)
Successfully processed 1 files; Failed processing 0 files
Result of Policies keys values compare: http://pastebin.com/dJjNirjh
If you like me to i can upload the policies registry files to file sharing website for you to compare them, i have no idea what policies value i’m suppose look for.
On a second thought, if it was policy restriction it should dump another message, not file not found. Besides, program checks at start if some of these files are present and is not reporting them missing(deleted or something). To be honest, I have nearly no ideas what specifically to check and I think you know your system better, what has been installed or modified etc. and you have a good puzzle to solve 🙂
If I come up with some ideas I will post here.
Btw- what’s the output of >echo %COMSPEC% ?
Can you also put in pastebin the contents of set.txt
C:\users\…>set > set.txt
The output of:
C:\>echo %COMSPEC%
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe
I myself puzzle as well like you said I know my system better then anyone and for now the i disabled programs i thought may cause the issue i will time to time keep on checking cause of the issue and report back to you if I found what is causing the issue. I’m sure what might be causing this errors will be helpful for you to resolve these errors i notice i’m not the only person having this error i read here comments of others who are having same issue with not able to make your program recognize ISO images. I don’t understand what you mean by pasting set.txt contents as i have already post here link of pastebin containing output of Set command.
It’s puzzling, yes, and will be good to know what’s going on. There are several causes when ISO is not detected, 99% trying unsupported source or ISO and your case has never been among them. As already mentioned, I don’t recall seeing such report so far and this program is out for probably 10 years now…
Missed the set output. Take another look at the current PATH, seeing windows folders listed twice, check for any typos or redundant entries, I recall a case in a forum ages ago where broken path was causing similar issues with other program but that’s from like 8-10 years ago, can’t remember any details. Just an idea.
I have check the Path variable and there was two C:\Windows\System32 folders path deleted that test the program with same error there is no miss spelled directory path or name.
The user Erez Schwartz had a same error like me which the program was not recognizing the ISO image of Windows 10 in his case with me it was with all Windows ISO images.
http://www.winsetupfromusb.com/faq/comment-page-9/#comments
The user Erez Scwartz was using dual ISO just as many others, which are not supported and as explained these cases have nothing to do with yours as 7z.exe is launched just fine. Seriously, writing this for N-th time already, really no need to keep repeating the same over and over and time to read carefully and find out what’s going on on your system.
Issue is my computer work likes how Windows should work i know Windows OS inside out i even teach Windows OS course which i have many graduates there is nothing wrong with my system its your program triping out of who knows what setting i try to find what it is and because i have no idea how your program works its impossible after all its your program don’t like something about my settings of Windows OS which i have to say just a week ago i did repair install Windows OS so you can say Windows settings are now revert back to default settings.
Well, you see, no offence, but you really need to stop the blaming part, really, since post 1. I care very little if you are Bill Gates himself or the super duper technician who knows everything inside out, seen plenty of either and that doesn’t change a thing.
I am glad to help you get to the bottom of this, but you DO need to stop implying same stuff over and over!
You see as I self its your program who does not like a some setting now if I was a person does not understand how Windows works I will have never ever found which setting your program does not compatible with you as a programmer should understand Windows O/S after all you do code for Windows OS so me been what ever you think has a advantage of me founding the issue. The program does not like it when Command Prompt directory path is changed other then C:\Windows\System32 directory path again its not fault of Windows OS. I set the Autoruns value data to C: directory path the Autoruns value is located at “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor” key.
“Autorun”=”cd \\”
Next time don’t talk down on people who is trying to help you resolve your program errors you need super duper technicians as we need super duper programmers we work together to resolve issues there is nothing wrong with your program I like it well coded super nice program but I wanted to know why these two errors were happening even do I solve them by adding directory path to Path variable I could have said nice sorted but when you said these errors should not be displayed i wanted to know if i can help you resolve these errors which hopefully i did.
Take Care.
You take care too. And remember when you change settings 😉
How can I run a script before setup loads just to change on the fly the autounattend.xml that is on the root? You know Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 have different xml options.
Thanks for your great work.
It could be done by grub4dos, but will be limited to BIOS boot. Why just not stick it to the root of the ISO or in \sources\ directory within it? It should be honoured just as if setup was started from a DVD if I am not mistaken.
Program by default, when cusomizing boot.wim, checks if \sources\unattend.xml is present and copies it as autounattend.xml to the root of the x: which is to ensure file is cached and used by setup, so that would be the safest way to do it.
MyCell: Why did you block booting with PLOP i removed this mssg from the menu.lst & it works fine now (My bios dont support booting from USB so i use a cd to load PLOP)
sorry MyCell: was entered in error
Well i have no idea what im doing wrong, but i have tried with 2 USB sticks now and as soon as the install finishes and i take out my USB i seem to brick it after using this program, the USB is not found anywhere after ive installed this, not in disk manager not anywhere.
What install? Can you see the usb on another computer? Program can brick usb disk as much as any other copy-paste program, it doesn’t have any super powers to do more.
Hi itaushanov,
Quick question: When using WinSetUpFromUSB to install Windows XP, is it possible to instruct the installation to set up the installed XP system WITHOUT a paging file?
Thanks,
Alex
I recall this was possible, I think some settings in winnt.sif or txtsetup.sif. You’d need to google a bit, don’t have an answer ready.
OK, thanks, will do some investigation.
One more question: I wanted to try installing Win XP Pro x64, but the SATA drivers for 2000/XP supplied with WinSetUpFormUSB are 32-bit only – do you know if 64-bit versions are available, and if so any chance you could integrate them into WSUFU? I wouldn’t know how to get them working otherwise!
Please go to the FAQ page, faq #3. Point 3 and 5 work for 64 bit systems. If you use 5 and add a SATA/RAID floppy image, you will have 2 additional boot options to load these drivers before starting the Setup. Try the first one and if issues, then restart and try the second one. In any case, first you must select one of these 2 options, then start Firts part of setup.
Getting error for larger file for about more than 4GB iso. See log file – https://www.datafilehost.com/d/fc50d8af
Unable to download it. Did datafilehost started putting malware in the downloads?
Can you please upload the raw log to pastebin
Now managed to open it. There are several things to mention- you are using beta version, there is newer 1.6 final version. Dual ISOs are NOT supported yet, please read the notes next to the file you are downloading. And last- the 4GB warning is NOT an error, it just informs you that such large file (over 4GB) is not supported on FAT32 (file system limitation) and will be split in parts.
Hello, could you help me get windows 7 for my windows vista home premium 32-bit (although, 64-bit capable). I just realized that I cannot upgrade to windows 8, 8.1 or 10 without spending money. I need to step up to windows 7 so that i can then upgrade to windows 10 therein. Help me please!
Sorry, this is not something I can’t help with.
hi!
i’ve been using your tool for over a year. it’s fantastic!
i have a small problem with it: i can’t rename the windows menu names after i put them on the usb stick. is there a way to edit them after the iso deployment?
Hi and thanks.
You can edit Windows bcd menus with the included BootIce or the free VisualBCD- edit \boot\bcd for BIOS boot and \efi\microsoft\boot\bcd for EFI boot.
wow, quick reply!
thanks for the info, works great, already modified the bcds. that typo (wondows) was bugging me for about half a year. 🙂
Auuu, bugger, is it a typo the program put in the menu and need fixing, or you did when adding the sources?
nope, my typo. i wrote wondows 7 for the first win install instance. 🙂
I get this message every time when I tries to ad the second NT6 iso file. (I format between takes):
https://www.datafilehost.com/d/5729e6a2
Fatal error!
Could not prepare NT6 boot files!
Please ask for help in support forum @ msfn.org

It’s most likely something to do with the Swedish system locale and the bcdedit output when parsing bcd entries. I will try to reproduce the issue and fix it. You will probably get it going if you change system locale to English, but that needs fixing in the program anyway. Thanks for reporting.
Works fine when I tried the program on an english version of Windows XP
Yeah, it’s bcdedit having different output with Swedish system locale. I’ll need to figure out a workaround in the next version.
