With Windows 10 Build 14393 (Anniversary Edition, 32-bit version), when I tried to add to an existing USB boot drive that was created with Winsetup 1.6, Winsetup 1.6 claimed “Warning – This seems to be a USB flash disk formatted by Windows as a Superfloppy”! I thought the USB drive had become damaged somehow, so I formatted it with Winsetup 1.6 FBINST, and tried to add to it. I got the same message. I was able to add to the USB drive with Winsetup running on Windows 7 (as well as prior versions of Windows 10). Obviously, this is something that M$ has done, but is there any way to work-around the problem?
Probably MS changed some APIs or WMI calls…
There is advanced option called “do not check and install grub4dos”. Can you try with it enabled?
Checking “do not check and install grub4dos” makes no difference. The same error occurs. 🙁
Can you please share the log files?
Did you get the log files I emailed you, or do I need to submit them by some other method?
The same for me, exactly same problem.
The problem reported appears to have been hardware related, as it is working now.
I have an ISO that contains all versions of Windows 7. The image file is 4,532,830,208 bytes in size. It contains a folder named [BOOT] which contains a 4096 byte file named Bootable_NoEmulation.img, and a readme text file that says “This disc contains a “UDF” file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346 “UDF” file system specification.”
Is there any way of adding this to a USB drive with WinsetuptoUSB? Specifying Windows7 doesn’t work.
What’s the issue with this ISO? Can’t be added or what? Can you share the log files? Detalis how to provide them are in the FAQ
Здравствуйте
I didn’t know which ISO type to select, but it appears that “Linux ISO/Other Grub4dos compatible ISO” works. Secondly, I had to convert my USB drive to NTFS because the image file was larger than 4GB. Thirdly, there was some sort of problem with my USB controller. It works fine now. спасибо
This option won’t work for Windows ISOs
Actually, “that option” is the only thing that works for this ISO, and it works well. As I stated above, the ISO contains five different versions of windows7, and is apparently formatted as a Linux ISO. This is why I had difficulty getting it to work before.
Have you fully tested that setup loads AND continues? I highly doubt it will continue with the installation part. And it most likely has incorrect ISO format, which is not linux thing, just improperly made. You can test if 7-zip opens it and displays contents.
I need to convert my WINSETUP USB drive from FAT32 to NTFS because the latest 64-bit version of Windows 10 is greater than 4GB in size. Should I use the conversion tool that comes with windoze, or should I use WINSETUPFROMUSB to format the USB drive, and then copy the USB and WINSETUP folders and menu.lst file to it from the FAT32 drive?
Latest versions get around this limitation and split larger Windows ISO files in parts. So you could still use FAT32.
I have version 1.6, and it told me I would have to use NTFS for an ISO larger than 4GB. Converting the USB drive to NTFS caused problems in booting from it. So, I copied the USB disk files to my hard drive, used WINSETUPFROMUSB to format the drive as NTFS, and then copied the files back to the USB drive. This worked, and all the ISO’s on the USB drive boot properly.
Because you were not using the Windows option to add that ISO. I have written explicitly that splitting happens ONLY for Windows ISOs…
i want use program for uefi boot and formatted fat32 with “auto format it with fbinst” when insert second windows show message you format as superfloppy and want to reformat from begging

How Can I Change Windows Name At Windows Boot Menu ??
http://i.imgur.com/9AlFbgd.jpg
I have added FAQ #16
Did it allready work with Windows 10 Anniversary update?
Adding it or program working on it? What’s the issue expected?
It says Usb stick is not ready yet.
Try to plug it in other port when this happens. Or use usb 2.0 port. This should not have anything to do with windows version, unless MS changed something.
tried it with every Port did not Worked on 2 Computers^^
Does same happen with older Windows 10 sources?
hello there. i got below message when adding the first iso. I am using a WIndows 8.1 Pro 32-bit to create a master installer for Win7 and Win 8.1 both for 64-bit version. Is that causing why I can continue to create the master installer in a 8GB USB, and Win7 and Win8.1 with 1,343,840 KB and 830,768 KB iso respectively? Both iso were downloaded from Microsoft using the Windows ISO Downloader. Thanks for your help!
This doesn’t seem to be a valid source!
Either or all of sources\boot.wim, \bootmgr\boot, \boot\BCD are missing, or source is not supported.
RETRY to select another source or CANCEL to return to the main menu
Cannot answer without seeing the log files. Check the FAQ page how to provide these.

Microsoft must have changed something in the latest Windows 10 builds. I will test and see what can be done.
itaushanov : THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR INTERESTING ….
I find in version 1.7 it defrags a ISO image but when you boot it up the image is not found and you have to install the image a second time. There also is not a way to remove a ISO image like with YUMI without formatting the flash drive. This happens when you install both a windows PE image or a Linux distro. I also notice with YUMI and other similar software you do not have to defrag the images so why can’t Windowssetupfromusb.
Need to see the log files what the case is. Have you tested on another computer or in QEMU?
About removing ISOs- that’s trivial task, check FAQ #14. Might be wort reading the rest as well.
ISOs are required to be defragmented due to grub4dos limitation. At the same time the benefit is that the Linux source is put as it is, without any modification or extracting. Why defragmenting is such an issue for you?
hello, so i think i broke my old Kingston Datatraveler G3 8GB flash usb with this app. here is my uploaded log -> https://ufile.io/c063 please check it out and i will appreciate every help you will give! and yeah i know that was long ago, 2016.03 or smth, but i just tried to use this old usb now, after long time i made my usb flash bootable with XP SP3 windows and i cant use my usb anymore.. it doesnt show in “my computer” nor “Disk management”.. i mean you can see in device manage or disk manager but with 0MB or unknown information everywhere written.. please help i dont want to throw away usb i know that i can fix it but doesnt know how.. actually i uploaded everything i got with program (install files, backups, logs and etc).
The flash drive most likely has given up. There is a little chance it could be temporarily repaired using manufacturer tool for tge specific controller, but mind you, these tools are not user friendly at all. Can’t really guide you more, google is your friend.
Yeah google is our best friend and once again i realised that for sure. I found the solution for me – im glad that im stubborn enough for stupid things like for trying to fix old and probably cheap USB device, im glad because i fixed it. So i will upload here a copy of my comment which i used in a couple of sites like this one. i realy hope this is going to be a good advice for someone and a good reason (motivation) for completeng the fixing task which you gave for yourself lol. Here it is:
“For those who cant see USB flash in Disk Management (you can see it but with “0 Mb” or “No Media” sign – YOUR FLASH DRIVE IS NOT BROKEN!!!!
You just need to find your USB’s chip information to find a proper USB formatting tool. I used “ChipGenius V3.01” program for that. In that program you need to check “Tools on web” line there should be a link. copy and paste to your browser. if that page is in asian – use google translate while pressing your right mouse button on that asian page (everywhere you can press your mouse) and “google translate” function. there you should find to download an app called somehow with word “format”. if you cant, then you should check “chipgenius” app again and check “Chip vendor” and “Chip part number” lines and google with that information (add “formatting tool” or smth). it found for my KINGSTON G3 DATA TRAVELER 8GB (old one) app called ” Phison Low Lever Formatter v2.10.0.5″ and it formatted my USB properly!! but in case you are going to use that app – its kinda buggy, old and made by asians (maybe china, ooh yeah im racist loooool :PP) so you will need to restart your pc and try that app again if its going to freeze and stuff.. and dont trust the “Pick out usb and put in again and then press OK” command windows in that app, because it freezed and made my USB only 4mb.. 😀 but no worries, i repeated it again and i did not put out anything just clicked OK and thats it, it finished to format it properly. EDIT: I re-formated again because Phison Low Lever 2.10.0.5 (as i mentioned above) failed me. but i tried the newest version of it, 3.19 or 3.5 cant remember exactly, but if you going to try it just google – “app name” newest version.
edit by mod- no personal information please”
if bios seems my USB Stick USB/FDD i get error message;
” It seems your USB disk was seen as a Floppy/ZIP disk by BIOS. Will try to launch PLoP boot manager which might help to make the USB disk seen as a hard disk/
This is experimental and is not guaranteed to work expected. ”
is there any solution for this ?
Yes. Get another computer which BIOS behaves properly 🙂
Or try using plop as suggested and hope it works.
