Here is an incomplete list of some of the supported sources tested with WinSetupFromUSB.
Since new sources are added frequently, please check again for updates.
Tests are usually performed on a NTFS formatted USB flash disk, including the Linux based ones. If there are additional steps needed to get a source going or another file system is needed, there will be a note.
Please leave a comment if you have tested another source, with a description and link to it, or if you have a request for a new one.

This is very convient tool I’ve used sor far, thank you.
I have a few suggestions here:
For Windows 7 multi-version ISO (e.g. I have an ISO of Windows 7Ultimate with both x64 and x86 on it, and should be able to choose which version as a menu, right after the install process get started.) Similar to this screenshot: http://postimg.org/image/wh74jl6kf/
But WinSetupFromUSB skips this step, and automatically choose the x64 version. Is there a solution?
Another request is:
For Windows 7 setup ISO to show on the first level of the menu. Currently, you need to choose the first line in the level one menu, and than choose again on the second level menu.
Thank you so much, great job
To the first question- depends how the ISO was made. If single boot.wim and single boot image in it, and selecting versions is done when setup is loaded, as in install.wim, then everything will be transferred as it is. In all other cases manual intervention is needed.
To the second question – not possible, since we are multibooting, right? How would you select and boot Linux source for example, if Windows NT6 boot menu is displayed right away? 😉
Gentoo amd64-minimal-20140313 confirmed!
Added, thanks.
I cannot get the Kaspersky rescue disk to boot it just goes to a black screen, everything else works great but that.
Anybody know of what may be causing it?
Try the Text mode boot option if Graphics one does not work on a particular machine. Once in Text mode, you could try the few options to start Graphics mode, or just use the Text mode.
It might be also a good idea to test on another machine to rule out bad download etc.
The moment I select it it goes to a black screen, no chance to select the text mode. I have tested on 3 machines none of them have worked.
And re-downloaded the iso and have tested it with yumi and sardu and by itself, it loads fine.
Weird…
I’ve tested with freshly downloaded ISO in case something was changed and both the old and the new ISOs worked fine on real hardware and VirtualBox. Do not test in QEMU, it most likely won’t work.
Can you send me the relevant WinSetupFromUSB.log file in program directory? Paste it on pastebin.com or upload it to datafilehost.com and give me the link.
In addition- do you happen to be using wrote-protect hard switch on the USB stick?
How was the USB disk formatted initially? The auto-format option or some other tool? What file system?
Try also holding the INSERT key on your keyboard once booting from USB, this should enter grub4dos debug mode where you have to press a key to go to each next step. Select Kaspersky Rescue once you get to the boot menu and tell me where it hangs.
Here is the log from last attempt http://pastebin.com/SrtpJqNF . Write protect switch is disabled and have also tested on a drive without write protection at all.
Then in debug it is get_cdinfo err=1, drive=0 until it hits A0, then is err=0, drive=1600
Then locks up after I select the iso with
Locks up with this displayed http://pastebin.com/MMxbBVbi
(your comments filter the string out)
I have tried auto-format, bootice and rmprepusb in fat32 and ntfs.
Try to update grub.exe and grldr in\files\grub4dos\ with newer versions from http://code.google.com/p/grub4dos-chenall/downloads/list
Then rebuild the USB disk. Try a few 0.4.6a and 0.4.5c versions.
No luck, oh well not the most important iso I need on there, thanks got all the assistance.
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help, can’t reproduce the issue here.
Do other Linux based ISOs work fine?
So far tried UBCD, Parted Magic, and Linux Mint all work fine.
[Request] I would like to boot elementaryOS Luna (based in Ubuntu 12.04) 😀
Just tested elementaryos-stable-amd64.20130810.iso, worked just fine, added to the list.
Mind you, any recent Linux distro should work, even if it’s not listed here (surely I cannot test all the distros out there), as long as it uses ISOHYBRID-ed ISO image, as most if not all distros do.
Oh, thanks! I will try booting eOS Luna and Ubuntu 12.04.4.
i need avast rescue disk to be add plz
Did you try adding the ISO using the Vista/7 option?
Added: Just tried freshly made rescue disk and it worked fine using the “Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / Server 2008/2012 based ISO” option.
Any one can tell me how to add hiren boot cd image or folder to the usb

I’d like to include this utility from gigabyte. is very useful for me.
http://download.gigabyte.ru/utility/motherboard_utility_xr2.exe
Thank you.
Congratulations… Great job!!!!
Did you try to extract the ISO file using 7-zip for example and add this ISO using the Linux/Other grub4dos ISO option?
Tested in QEMU and it loaded. You can test further on real hardware.
make USB install windows 8.1 with iso “Windows 8.1 AIO 20in1 with update x64 2014 v4” error when installing. Help me. I using WinsetupfromUSB 1.4.
Thank you
What is the error and when?
Kali Linux 1.0.6 support???
http://www.kali.org/downloads/
Most likely it will work. Please let me know if it doesn’t.
The list above is only of tested sources, meaning a lot more would work, juat haven’t been tested yet.
Is Boot Repair Disk 32bit and 64bit (http://sourceforge.net/p/boot-repair/home/Home/) supported?
I can’t see a download link. Why don’t you just try it? Let me know if it doesn’t work.
Edit:
Seems to work fine, just tested the 32-bit version.
Mind you, as mentioned above, the list on this page is only of tested sources, meaning a lot more would work, just haven’t been tested yet. Basically any recent Linux distro should work fine as well.
I just don’t know what option should I choose; is ‘Linux ISO/Other Grub4dos compatible ISO’ correct to test for Boot Repair Disk?
I have already made a working multiple source WinSetupfromUSB USB installers, I don’t want to screw up all the installers for an untested source and start all over again if something goes wrong (I don’t have spare USB pendrive), because I spent lots of hours to download, setup and test correctly, based on the information here (in my case, multiple Windows sources, multiple antivirus sources and Hiren’s Boot CD).
Yes, that’s the correct option. Here is a quick tutorial how to figure out what type the source is and which option to use.
In short- if there is no I386 folder and SETUPLDR.BIN+NTDETECT.COM (Windows NT5 source) inside it, or file BOOTMGR (Windows NT6 source) in root, then always use the Linux ISO/Other Grub4dos compatible ISO option.
